Michael Simpson is Chief Commercial & Product Officer for Cheesecake Energy, leading the development of a modular compressed air energy storage technology for commercial and industrial customers in need of 5-20 hours of storage. Mike has a PhD in high-efficiency compression/expansion from Imperial College London and an undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Cambridge. He previously worked on a range of gas turbine design and analysis challenges for Rolls-Royce Plc., and conducted research into energy storage at the University of Nottingham.
