Day after day, our world is witnessing unprecedented climatic shifts. From record-breaking heat waves and devastating wildfires to prolonged droughts and catastrophic floods, the urgency of addressing climate change prevails. The transport sector is the UK’s largest emitting sector of GHG emissions, so CATAGEN have decided to start here. 

CATAGEN’s mission is to clean and decarbonise the air. We are a pioneering green emissions testing facility based in Belfast providing unrivalled metrics to optimise catalyst development and reduce harmful tailpipe emissions. 

Our expertise in the mobility sector and global emissions standards has led us to develop the ClimaHtech system. ClimaHtech is a platform to generate green hydrogen (without electrolysis), biohydrogen, and gHreen e-fuels with complementary systems for carbon capture and hydrogen compression. The ClimaHtech system is designed for industry, decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors such as light and heavy-duty vehicles, buses, aviation, and marine. 

CATAGEN’s ClimaHtech system will be used in a project to decarbonise non-road mobile machinery in 2024. The ClimaHtech E-FUEL GEN and COMPRESSOR technology will power Terex equipment at a UK quarrying site, supported by Wrightbus' mobile hydrogen refueler. CATAGEN are also exploring the decarbonisation of the UK’s maritime activities by working with The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC), Orkney Islands Council, Highland Fuels Limited, and Belfast Harbour Commissioners. CATAGEN have also successfully secured seabed rights off the coast of Scotland as part of the INTOG leasing round with ESB to demonstrate the viability of SAF as a route to market for offshore wind in constrained areas of Scottish waters.
